Cell Block Demo 1
A downloadable game
Controls: Arrow keys or WASD only
File location: I'ts the exe in the zip
The game is temporarily called *Cell Block*, and it has been my psychotic obsession for a long time. I’ve been working on it for years, it’s gone through too many versions, and I’m getting close to 30. I don’t want to keep pouring time into this if it’s not actually worth finishing.
I’m intentionally not going to explain what the game is or how it plays. I want your raw, uninformed reaction; whether the game can stand on its own and guide the player without me stepping in to explain it.
My goal is to have the game feature-complete by my birthday, March 12th. By “feature-complete,” I just mean it works from start to finish. Right now it’s extremely simple, with only geometric shapes and no real art, music, or story. It’s meant to be a stripped-down demo of the core loop, just to see if it’s fundamentally enjoyable before I invest more time into it.
There are three things I want to know:
1. Is it fun?
2. Is it too simple?
3. If this were a full-length game with real visuals, story, cutscenes, etc., does it feel like something that could realistically sell for around $9.99?
Basically: should I keep working on this? Is this something you, or anyone, would actually want to play? Because I have ideas for much more complex versions involving strategy, macro-systems, and unit management. But if it's fine how it is I want to get people's opinion and finish it. Or not.
